Humanity

I wrote this poem for a that some students put together.

Humanity:Physically unique,Mentally diverse.

And though our world consists of different minds,Our hearts unite to one beat.

Each one of us possess different virtues,Making our bond of humanity so strong, that we become indestructible.

Our appearance may be deceiving,But we all add to the betterment of mankind.

Ignorance, pain, and betrayal, tear us apart,

However, truth, selflessness, and inspiration bring us together.

Even though our struggles may differ,We suffer as one.

There may be times when we feel that we are alone, but that is when we need to realize that there are people who can help, and remain next to us when we feel we are falling.

We are united.

We will fall, but we can rise. We will be discouraged, but we can all work together and succeed.

Whether tomorrow comes or not, we are always together.

And together, we can overcome anything.

We are: humanity.

Another Poem I wrote...to all the amazing teachers I've had, and will have.
An Eternal Guru

God wanted to put a guide on earth,
Who would treat each and every student as her own child.

God wanted to put a guide on earth,
Who would go out of her way and make sure each student understands even the smallest detail.

God wanted to put a guide on earth,
Who would give the heart of compassion, encouragement, understanding, and patience to everyone around her.

God wanted to put a guide on earth,
Who would love each student and create a special memory
in their hearts.

God wanted to put a guide on earth,
Who could work with everyone in a God like manner,
to remove doubts, dispel resentments, and bestow peace.

And so, he made YOU.

Once A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some
water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the students, "How
much do you think this glass weighs?

"50gms!"....''100gms!''...''125gms''... the students answered.

"I really don't know unless I weigh it", said the professor, "but my question
is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"

"Nothing." The students said.

"Okay, what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?" the
Professor asked.

"Your arm would begin to ache." said one of the
students.

"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a
day?"

" Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress &
paralysis; have to go to hospital for sure!" Ventured another
student. Everyone laughed.

"Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?"
Asked the professor.

"No." replied the students

"Then what caused the arm ache and the muscle
stress? Instead what should I do with the glass?"

The students were puzzled.

After a couple of minutes, one student yelled, "You should put the glass down!"

"Exactly!" said the professor.

"Life's problems are something like this:
Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem Okay. Think of them
for a long time; they begin to ache. Hold it even longer; they
begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything. It's
important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to 'put them down' at the end of every day
before you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up
every day fresh, strong, can handle any issue, any challenge that
comes your way!"

Remember to PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY! That's life!!!

The biggest strength to man is his mind

The day you decide you want to acheieve something, you will have to believe in it. Because this belief will become your strength and get you to your destination.
Now, the decision is yours.
Do you want to part with your weaknesses or do you want to live with them your whole life?

“We Are America”

As the soot and dirt and ash rained down,
We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building,
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope,
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno,
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long,
We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss,
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss,
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes,
We become one people.
We are one color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people
We are The Power of One.
We are united.
We are America.
A student who used to go to my school wrote this poem in 2005.

This poem is written by me. I honestly have no idea why I felt like writing on this subject. Maybe that night I was feeling too ordinary and I felt like writing about it.
A Mediocre Path

A leaf’s touch
so gentle, so weightless
clinging to a branch,
like a feather to a bird.
When time has come for it to leave its branch,
it does so with outmost love,
as if detaching itself from its support
to become independent.
It sways gently to the ground,
letting the wind provide its destination.
Rustling and rolling over hills and mountains,
it lands itself amidst a river, floating down the surface,
mesmerized by the friendliness of the water.
Soon, tidal waves approach,
leaving no choice to the leaf except to be engulfed by the water,
drop itself down within a waterfall,
And become yet another leaf
among the shores of a newly born lake.

While I was writing this, I was thinking about whether we really have a destiny, and whether we can change it. Some people also regret certain things they've done in their lives and wish that they could rewind their actions.
:.Destiny.:

There are many people all over the world who wish to rewind their wrong doing and start over again on a different path which would help them in a better direction. However, the question is, “How would one know which path is to be taken?” For the betterment of mankind, we are not able to rewind our wrong doing and erase it; this way, we will be able to stride towards the correct path. We should be able to learn from our past and not regret what we have already done, and incorporate the lessons we have learnt into the present moment: when life is the most important. The present moment decides the fate of our future and the memories we will be looking back on. What we do at this very moment can change our destiny. The choices we make and the turns we take all depend on who we truly believe we are inside. It also depends on the lessons we personally experience and the lessons we learn from others. Without the wrong turns and mistakes, we will find it challenging to make the most out of our life.

Footprints

This is my favorite story yet. Most of you may have heard this one already.

.::Footprints::.

One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed he was walking Along the beach with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene,

He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,

One belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,

He looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of his life

There was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened

At the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him And he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You'd walk with me all the way.

But I have noticed that During the most troublesome times in my life,

There is only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why when I needed You most you would leave me.

" The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,

I love you and I would never leave you.

During your times of trial and suffering,

When you see only one set of footprints,

It was then that I carried you."

I wrote this poem for my best friend Parisa's birthday. She really means a lot to me and I love her.

The Perfect Best Friend

God wanted to create the perfect best friend.

He wanted her to have a compassionate heart
and be there for others when they are having difficulties.

He wanted her to have comforting
arms when a friend needed caressing.

God wanted to create a best
friend who would confide in others,

A friend who will always be around
to share thoughts and understand.

One who will make a friend laugh when she is sad

One who will listen to others
when they need to talk.

He wanted her to be a sister.

This friend will never have to identify herself when she calls,
because her voice would be known by heart.

She will stay up late to talk and fool around

She will be someone who will
always wish for the best in everyone.

One who will always be special and will always
be able to say the right things.

One who will always know that friendship
is not true until after there has been a fight.

God wanted to create a best friend who will not think
about others being there for them;
yet, they will think about them always being there for others.

And so, God thought and thought,
and one day he knew that the perfect
name for this ideal best friend would be,
“Parisa”.
